LOCAL JOBS AND LOCAL HOMES FOR LOCAL PEOPLE
Ko'olau Loa Senior Village is planned as a five hundred (500) unit of private town homes designed as a senior citizen, assisted-living community capable of satisfying the most discriminating tastes or demanding medical needs. It will be built as close to the Ko'olau Loa Regional Medical Center as possible and will provide, on a 24/7 basis, geriatric medical support, food service, recreational activities, and a sedate and picturesque living environment that will allow the region's senior citizens to live out their lives in worry free comfort.
KLP is concerned about the movement of senior citizens across any thoroughfare as they move about the development. To limit the potential for accidents, KLP will place two, one-way, tunnels under its major loop road that will connect the Senior Village with Town Centre, and the recreational facilities located on the opposite side of the road. These tunnels will be specifically designed to handle foot traffic and electric vehicles only.
Ko'olau Loa Senior Village will work hand-in-hand with the Ko'olau Regional Medical Center by providing areas for nurses in training to gather real-time experience assisting geriatric patients; in this respect, it will also complement the Ko'olau Loa Vocational College.
The Senior Village will provide employment opportunities for professional, skilled and unskilled labor, and will be built entirely as a "green" community; energy efficient and environmentally friendly. It is estimated that this part of the overall project will provide meaningful employment to over one hundred Ko'olau Loa residents.
